Aventuras Mayas
works in partnership with the ICRAN Mesoamerican Reef Alliance
Since 2006, we participate
in this pioneering program that generates high standards of sustainable
environmental practices throughout the marine recreation industries
of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras.
By adhering to this voluntary
standard, we meet requirements for environmental performance, conservation
practices, and operational safety that enhance our clients' snorkeling
experiences while minimizing the environmental impact of our recreational
snorkeling operations. This helps the fragile marine ecosystems of the
Mesoamerican Reef system, particularly, coral reefs, sea grass beds,
mangrove forests, and related coastal environments.
In our Mayan Adventure and
Tulum Extreme excursions you will encounter professional guides that
are highly qualified to provide all the relevant information to protect
these marvelous ecosystems.
The standard mentioned above
addresses four critical areas:
- Minimizing the impact to
the marine environment, particularly to coral reefs, sea grass beds
and related coastal environments;
- Promoting a high competence of our staff and clients;
- Offering minimum requirements for doing guided snorkeling and providing
equipment to independent snorkelers; and
- Implementing operational safety practices and emergency equipment.
